Recordings of telephone conversations concerning the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the transition
President Johnson intended for the recordings and transcripts of his telephone conversations to be closed until fifty years after his death. In November 1993, however, the staff of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library began opening this collection in response to the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 (Public Law 102-526). We prepared a special series entitled "JFK Assassination-Related Conversations” (informally called the “K Series”), consisting of the recordings and transcripts of all recorded telephone conversations from November 22 through December 31, 1963, as well as conversations containing information specifically related to the assassination from several later periods in the Johnson administration.
